Carrot pumpkin puree food recipe is best as a first food for the baby because of its high nutritious content. To be more specific it is preferred to gradually start with the pumpkin in the baby food diet from 8 months and onwards.

This baby food recipe is making perfect food in your baby health and development because of the nutrition in these vegetables. Carrot is a good source of beta carotene, Vitamins, fibre and potassium. Pumpkin is loaded with Vitamins and minerals and is high in fibre. Further, these vegetables help in digestion, good for eyes and are high in water content.

Ingredients

  • A wedge of pumpkin
  • Medium-sized carrot – ½
  • Water – 30 ml

How to Make

  • Wash and peel the carrot. Cut it into small cubes.
  • Similarly, cut and wash the required quantity of wedge of a pumpkin into small cubes.
  • Take the pressure cooker and put the pumpkin and carrot cubes with water into it. 
  • Take two whistles and simmer the flame.
  • Leave it for 5 mins and turn off the flame.
  • Sieve or mash the vegetables.
  • The sweet and nutritious carrot pumpkin puree is ready to serve.
  • Do not add water to the puree. If required to make its consistency liquid or little runny add two spoons of the remaining water in the pressure cooker.

Useful Tips

  • Do taste the recipe so prepared before feeding it to the baby.
  • Select the pumpkin that is green skin, firm and is not too ripe. 
  • Select the carrots that are red, firm and smooth skin. Choose medium-sized carrots. 
  • Peel the carrot with extra care by removing all the skin. Further, it is preferred not to take the hard white portion of the carrot in the recipe.
  • Always prefer to remove the seeds of the pumpkin from the wedge with the help of a spoon. Further, remove the skin of the pumpkin before mashing the vegetable into the puree.
  • Pumpkin is high in water content, therefore, helps in relieving constipation. Further, helps in boosting immunity.
  • Always check with your paediatrician before giving any new food to the baby.
