Ganesha Chaturthi has been celebrated in the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada every year. This year on the 22nd of August 2020 we are celebrating the festival of Ganesha Chaturthi. All our preparations for welcoming Lord Ganesha is over. After a long waiting of one year, the day has arrived to give a grand welcome to Lord Ganesha. With all positive enthusiasm and happiness wishing you a joyful and prosperous Ganesha Chaturthi.
The festival of Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated with much pomp and show in Maharastra. It is celebrated to symbolise the birth of Lord Ganesha. The devotees celebrate the birth of their lord by fasting day long. We decorate our homes with vibrant flowers and different craftworks. Ladies make modak filled with the sweetness of coconut and jaggery. Modak is most liked by Lord Ganesha.
Ganeshotsav is our kids most favourite festival. They enjoy the decoration, modak and pooja ceremony of their lord. They are dressed up in their best outfit for the day to welcome Ganpati Ji. He comes as a guest to our homes and immerses with all our vignah. Kids wholeheartedly do sewa for 10 days of their Ganpati Ji and learn many new things about the festival. The parents should take part in teaching the stories behind the celebration of the festival to their little ones.
Due to the current pandemic situation, the Ganeshotsav will be celebrated in a low key manner. This year the devotees will not be able to visit temples for darshan. But will be able to have darshan of the festival ceremony online as decided by some mandals or associations. To take care of the current situation small eco-friendly pandals are made in Maharastra. These initiatives by the government and people are appreciated.
Lord Ganesha is considered as Vignaharta. Our lord is known for Buddhi, Siddhi and Riddhi. I pray to my Lord Ganesha to shower his blessing in our lives and protect the world from the pandemic virus.
